Product Description

1974 MARTIN D-28

We have the pleasure of offering one of the most desired acoustic guitars of all-time – a beautiful 1974 Martin D-28 in stunning NEAR MINT-to-MINT condition!

If you doubt us, just look at the 29 hi-resolution pictures below. This incredible find is just fabulous, both in its condition and the way it plays and sounds. This is one true cannon of a D-28! If you don't have the big bucks to spend on one made with Brazilian Rosewood, here's the next best thing. This one features beautiful Indian Rosewood back and sides that looks almost as nice as Brazilian Rosewood. The great thing about it is that it SOUNDS just as as good as Brazilian! For any Martin acoustic, there really are no accurate words to describe how clearly the notes jump off the Rosewood fingerboard, or how perfectly balanced the tone projects from the body and sound hole. It’s guitars like this that make us wish there was a way for interested parties to pick it up, hold it in their hands, and strum a few chords on it. Because we promise you that if you buy this and play it, you will own it for the rest of your life.

We purchased the guitar from its original owner, and he apparently didn't play it much. It has sat in its original blue Martin case for most of its life, only seeing the light of day a few times a year. As we said previously, the condition of this fabulous Martin is NEAR MINT TO MINT, with only two very, very small nicks on the back of the guitar. There are no other marks anywhere on this guitar ... not on the top, not on the headstock, not on the sides, NOWHERE!!!

All of the bracing inside the guitar is intact, solid and secure, and the original Spruce top has aged beautifully to an amazingly golden yellow hue. The India Rosewood fingerboard and the frets are nothing short of amazing, and the neck is about as straight as they come. The tuners are original and still hold the guitar in perfect tune. As far as we can tell, there are no signs of the guitar ever having had a neck reset. But more importantly, it DOES NOT NEED A NECK RESET! The action, tone and overall playability of this guitar are simply remarkable. As we said before, there are really no words to describe the perfectly balanced sound that emanates from this truly classic Martin. You can strum a simple E chord and it rings for days!

There are literally thousands of D-28 from the 1970s out there, but there are only a very few that are like this one. Guitars like this 1974 Martin D-28 don’t come around too often, and then they do they don’t tend to last very long. This beauty deserves to be in the hands of a professional player or in a serious collection.

Like many vintage Martin acoustics, this one is special. We promise this Martin is going to make someone very, very happy!
